While building a test cable, it became clear that the pinout could be improved to make assembly of the cables easier, and also to spread the strain on the D-SUB connector more evenly.
NOTE: This pinout is INCOMPATIBLE WITH THE PREVIOUS VERSION. IT WILL DESTROY Version 2 / Revision 3 Mesh Extender PCBs (and vice-versa).
NOTE: This pinout is only proposed at this point in time. Do not build cables to this specification, until confirmed.

The following table is correct for the Version 2 PCB, i.e., the third revision, including proposed errata.
Compared with the previous arrangement, we are now using the 3-wire lead for the solar panel/automotive input, and the 4-wire one for battery and +5V output, since it seems more probable that batteries and a USB charging port would be located together inside, while the solar panel alone remains outside.
NOTE: There is NO REVERSE POLARITY PROTECTION on the Mesh Extender PCBs at the moment. This is clearly not ideal, but it is the situation for now.
